Lesson 6 of 11: The Church

Updated: Jan 10

The Church is the people called out by God through the Holy Spirit to trust in Jesus Christ and to be his witnesses in the world. It is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic—a community united in love, formed by Scripture and the apostles’ teaching, and sent to show and tell God’s love in word and action.

Please watch the video and answer the questions below.

DISCUSSION PROMPTS FOR MENTORS

These are only suggestions. The idea is to discuss the Church.

  • If the church is one, why are there so many different denominations and/or congregations? How is the Church one?

  • If someone told you that he or she is a Christian, but refuses to be in fellowship with other believers, how would you respond?

  • Some say that the birthday of the Church is Pentecost. How is that accurate? How is that not accurate?
